This Thursday night, Vessel will be the spot for good drinks and incredible music with world renowned and Legendary Detroit Techno/House DJ & Producer DERRICK MAY!!!

If one name crops up again and again in discussions of techno, it is that of Derrick "Mayday" May. May is regarded as one of the kings of the Detroit sound. Derrick May is one of the founding fathers of Detroit techno, a precursor of its many variants and particularly of acid house. His eastethic, skeletal, melancholy style gained him the nickname of "the Miles Davis of techno". He introduced both a psychological element and a futuristic vision in dance music. Along with his high school mates Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson, May began early in life to explore electronic music May sponsored the single Let's Go by X-Ray, that introduced the hypnotic, repetitive electronic figures of techno, and then recorded Nude Photo (co-written by Thomas Barnett) (Transmat, 1987), credited to Rhythim Is Rhythim, one of the records that started the techno revolution world-wide.

May spends most of his time touring the world as a DJ, trying to save the world from bad, souless music, and is taking no prisoners. He's professed to propel electronic music in its purest and most honest form, without additives. What spills out of May is frantically beat-heavy but soulfully warm, with nervous beats and breaks pounding away at curvy synths. Overflowing with emotionally unrestrained, sexy electronic funk, this is another Vessel Decibel is not to be missed!

This Thursday night, Vessel is the spot for good drinks and great music. RSVP for the event and you're VIP ALL NIGHT! On top of that, the music is going to blow you away with DJs Sammy D from KONTROL and Bo from Deep Blue/Back2Basics!

Born and raised in Alaska, Sammy D was adopted by Nannook Eskimo's and taught the way of the tundra. Fast forward to 1992 and eat a grip of acid and you have the birth of a new man a changed human. Forgotten was the way of the Christian childhood slow jamz and birthed a new a sound. While tripping on acid (paper) Samuel heard Rave Legend Markum X playing music that he thought was delivered by alien ships to a parking garage in downtown Portland, Or. He describes this music more in depth in his auto biography simply titled "Peaking". Through out the 90's Samuel raved all up and down the west coast replacing his Christian inspiration with the likes of Ritchie Hawtin, Doc Martin, Donald Glaude, DJ Dan, and Bad Boy Bill. Samuel became a dancer a groover a hauser. He specialized in liquid grooving and west coast stomping.

In the fall of 1999 before Y2K hit NorthernMan moved to his present day location called San Francisco. His first year brought many hardships thanks to a unusually cold winter backed by an allergic reaction to fog. Long story short Sammy D is a f'ing tight dj who plays hot music that people dance to. You've probably seen him play records at the End Up on [Kontrol] night.
